Description

The Simple Folder Filelist plugin automatically generates markdown index files listing all notes within specified folders. It creates lists using wiki links, sorted by modification date so the most recently updated files appear first. You can finetune its behaviour through settings, like defining which folders to include, ignoring specific file extensions or filenames, and even customising the naming pattern of the list file. This is useful for users who want lightweight, auto-updating file overviews without relying on complex queries or dataview plugins.

Simple Folder Filelist for Obsidian

Latest Version

Generate a file in specified folders containing wiki-links to files in that folder.

Features

Use

  • Install and enable the Plugin like any other.

  • In the Settings tab:

    • Specify “Included folder paths”: folders for which you want filelist files

      • A folder path of “/“ generates an ndx-root.md file of the vault root directory

    • Specify “Excluded extensions”: file extensions to exclude from folder filelists

    • Specify "Excluded files": filenames to exclude from folder filelists; e.g., LICENSE

    • Adjust Listfile pattern: default pattern recommended

    • Exclude listfile from list: default and recommended setting is "On"
